"This alpine larch shard was found on a scree slope in Moe’s Canyon. It had survived years of exposure because of all the resin in the wood fibre.  I burnt the surface to darken it. The sheen that remains is from the cooled and hardened resin. The form and movement of this piece remind me of a torch or lick of flame."
