“The Colour of Water” A Solo Exhibit by Oil Painter Janet Moore
April 2–26, 2026 | Kimberley, BC
Art Gallery Kimberley is proud to present “The Colour of Water,” a solo exhibit of oil paintings by artist Janet Moore. The show opens Thursday, April 2, 2026, and runs through Sunday, April 26, 2026.
“The Colour of Water” is an expressive body of work exploring the deep emotional connections we form with water. Drawing on personal experiences that range from surfing the Pacific swells off Tofino to snowboarding the mountain slopes of the Kootenays, Janet invites viewers to reflect on water in all its forms, and on the profound sense of calm, joy, and belonging it can inspire.
At the heart of the series is a note of urgency: the snowy landscapes Janet loves are changing. As glaciers lose their ice to a warming climate, Janet draws attention to the fragility of these environments and the importance of protecting them for future generations.
“Through this series, I invite viewers to reflect on their own relationship with water and the importance of protecting these vital environments,” Janet says.
About the Artist
Jane Moore is a Fernie-based oil painter whose work is rooted in her life as an avid hiker, biker, and snowboarder. She frequently paints en plein air, working directly in the landscapes that inspire her—a practice that allows her to capture not just how a place looks, but how it feels to stand within it.
Janet’s paintings reflect both the raw energy of the natural world and her personal connection to the environments she inhabits. Her work has been recognized at the national level: she is an elected member of the Society of Canadian Artists and a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists.
Whether you’re a longtime admirer of Janet’s work or a newcomer, this is a show that will move you—and perhaps change the way you think about water and the importance of protecting these inspiring places.
