The 2025 BC and Yukon Book Prizes on Tour is making a special stop in Kimberley this month, thanks to a creative collaboration with the Kimberley Public Library. The event will spotlight two of this year’s most compelling voices in Canadian literature while emphasising the importance of supporting the arts in all forms in the community.
On Wednesday, May 28 at 6:00 pm, we will host an intimate evening with Loghan Paylor and Julie Wilkins, two shortlisted authors from the 2025 BC and Yukon Book Prizes.
Loghan Paylor, an Abbotsford-based author, is a finalist for the Jim Deva Prize for Writing that Provokes with their bold and poignant novel “The Cure for Drowning.” Julie Wilkins, based in Squamish, is shortlisted for the Christie Harris Illustrated Children’s Literature Prize for her beautifully illustrated and heartfelt book “We’re Happy You’re Here.”
This free public event will include readings from both authors, followed by a conversation centered on creative connections and the importance of building community for solitary arts practices.
The BC and Yukon Book Prizes have celebrated literary excellence since 1985, shining a spotlight on the outstanding contributions of writers, illustrators, and publishers across the region. Winners of the 2025 prizes will be announced on September 21, 2025, at the University Golf Club in Vancouver.
Please join us for an evening that connects readers, writers, and the arts—right in the heart of Kimberley.
